The Audio Recording submission option is now available within Recollective’s Multimedia Task and can be enabled either individually or in combination with other submission types including text, photo, video, screen recordings and/ or file uploads.

Collecting audio recordings can provide valuable insights into participants' thoughts and emotions. Unlike written responses, audio captures the richness of spoken communication, conveying nuances that may otherwise be lost. It also provides a natural and spontaneous channel for participants to provide candid feedback, leading to a deeper understanding of their experiences and opinions.

Participants can record directly from within the platform using their desktop browser or mobile device. Audio-only recordings are easier to produce than video, making them ideal for camera-shy participants, sensitive research topics and privacy-conscious markets. In addition, audio recordings are instantly transcribed, allowing researchers to easily analyze the data captured. If you're still not convinced, here are the top 10 reasons to incorporate Recollective's Audio Recording Task in your next research project:

Top 10 Reasons to Use Recollective’s Audio Recording Task

  1. Genuine Responses: Instead of having participants write out their responses, audio recordings can capture their thoughts in a more realistic way, mimicking a natural conversation but in an asynchronous format. The benefit is that you can capture participants' stream-of-consciousness thoughts or in-the-moment responses to any topic or question.
  2. Nonverbal Cues: Audio recordings can capture nonverbal cues such as tone of voice, inflection, and pauses, providing researchers with a more nuanced understanding of participants' attitudes and emotions.
  3. Better Engagement and Faster Responses: Audio responses are a quick and easy way for participants to share their thoughts and feelings, reducing the fatigue that comes with long written responses. This interactive experience can increase engagement and participation rates, especially for studies that have lengthy or repetitive tasks.
  4. Lower technical hurdle: Recording audio is a lower technical hurdle than recording video. Participants do not need to worry about their appearance or configuring their cameras, which can be a barrier to participation.
  5. Response Authenticity: Audio responses cannot be generated using AI tools and require participants to speak in their own voice, ensuring authentic responses and reducing the risk of participants using generative AI.
  6. On-The-Go/ Mobile Responses: Our audio streaming technology requires less bandwidth than uploading a video, making it easier for participants to respond in areas where there is a less reliable internet connection.
  7. Privacy Benefits: Audio capture offers greater privacy than video capture, making participants feel more comfortable when discussing sensitive topics or in privacy-conscious markets.
  8. Set duration limits: With the ability to configure minimum and maximum duration limits, you can remain confident that participants will provide the length of response and detail required based on your study’s needs.
  9. Automatic Transcription: Just like recorded videos, audio responses in Recollective are automatically transcribed for quicker analysis.
  10. Excerpt and Add to Video Playlists: Audio response soundbites can be saved as excerpts and added to playlists!

Recollective’s new Audio Recording Task can improve the quality and depth of insights gained from market research studies. With the ability to collect genuine responses, and the added benefit of capturing nuance, our Audio Recording Task is a valuable tool for researchers. Say goodbye to lengthy written responses and embrace the ease and authenticity of audio recordings.
